It’s Monday! What are you reading? is hosted by Book Journey.

I’m still getting use to this blogging and writing new posts and reviews. I keep making edits and changes to the new posts. When I see other book blogs, I get new ideas that I can incorporate into my blog. I envision my blog will continue to grow and evolve as I learn more about blogging. This week I have learned to add covers of the books that I am reading and reviewing to my blog from GoodReads. I have learned to link my blog to Facebook and Twitter accounts as a way to publicize my blog. This is great. Thanks for reading with me.

What I am reading today:

The Secret of MagicThe Secret of Magic by Deborah Johnson

Source: Publisher, won an advanced copy

Format: Paperback

Summary:  In 1946, a young female attorney from New York City attempts the impossible: attaining justice for a black man in the Deep South.

Regina Robichard works for Thurgood Marshall, who receives an unusual letter asking the NAACP to investigate the murder of a returning black war hero. It is signed by M. P. Calhoun, the most reclusive author in the country.

As a child, Regina was captivated by Calhoun’s The Secret of Magic, a novel in which white and black children played together in a magical forest.

Once down in Mississippi, Regina finds that nothing in the South is as it seems. She must navigate the muddy waters of racism, relationships, and her own tragic past.
